DAVID YEARWOOD is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor at the Intermediate Junior II certification level. David and his wife Parks McKinney are honored to own and operate Portland Yoga Studio. In 2015 David travelled to India to study for one month with the Iyengars at RIMYI in Pune. In 2011-12 he completed an eight month direct study apprenticeship with Lois Steinberg, Phd, and Certified Advanced Iyengar Yoga Teacher.David has practiced Iyengar Yoga for 29 years and taught for 26, several years of which were spent teaching at the Iyengar Institute of Manhattan under the mentorship of the greatly missed and cherished, Mary Dunn. David's style is supportive, direct, encouraging, light-hearted and insightful. PAMELA RYAN is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor. Pamela has been studying Iyengar yoga since 1989. She is a longtime student of Patricia Walden of Cambridge, MA, whom she has assisted in Yogamala's Teacher Training program as well as in various workshops throughout the years. She also travels regularly to Pune, India to study with the Iyengars. To her, teaching is an extension of her practice and an integral part of her life. DALE SHIELDS Dale is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor at the Introductory II level. She began practicing Iyengar Yoga in 2007 and began teaching in Maine in 2011. She has traveled twice to India to study directly with the Iyengar family and the other senior teachers at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute. In New England, she studies with senior teacher Patricia Walden in weekly classes in Boston and workshops during the year. LIZ LEUTHNER is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher at the Introductory I/II certification level. She studies and practices in Maine with CIYTs David Yearwood and Kim Peralta. In addition to PYS, Liz also teaches at the Portland YMCA and for local addiction treatment programs. Her practice is also deeply influenced by the bhakti (or “devotional”) path of love and service, offering seva yoga for recovery weekly at HopeGateway. Liz lectures and teaches on the relationship between yoga and addiction recovery, most recently at the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery, Maine Alliance for Addiction Recovery, Crossroads/Back Cove, The Plymouth House, and The Alcyon Center.

CARON MURRAY Caron practiced other styles of yoga for 20 years before finding a home in Iyengar Yoga. Caron is now a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher who has practiced Iyengar yoga for ten years. She attended the BKS Iyengar Centenary Event in India where she studied with the Iyengar Family for three weeks. She mentored with Kim Peralta and David Yearwood and has taken numerous workshops with many senior teachers including Lois Steinberg, John Schumacher, Laurie Blakeney, Patricia Walden and Manouso Manos. She is currently an apprentice of David Yearwood and assists in his Sunday classes. She also teaches Iyengar Yoga at the Casco Bay YMCA in Freeport, Maine and at her home studio. LINDSAY BUTEAU is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher at the Introductory I/II Level. Lindsay was introduced to yoga as a child and was a sporadic practitioner throughout her youth and teens. About ten years ago Lindsay found her way to Portland Yoga Studio and has since cultivated and deepened her practice of Iyengar yoga thanks to all her PYS teachers and fellow practitioners. Lindsay became certified in 2017 under the study of David Yearwood and Kim Peralta.
Lindsay holds a master’s degree in accounting and has worked full time in the field of
accounting/finance for over ten years. Her yoga practice has been a foundation for managing the
demands of her career and as such, her teaching style draws on this experience of integrating the
lessons and benefits of yoga into everyday life.
