PORTLAND YOGA STUDIO
Portland Yoga Studio is situated in the arts district, 100 yards southwest from the Portland Museum of Art, in a charming Victorian building, at 616 Congress Street (VIEW MAP). The arch at the entryway under the canopy that hangs over the sidewalk, is one hint that the building was once a church.

Entering through handsome glass doors with brass handles, one is led up shallow marble steps to the third floor and our two adjoining studios with hardwood floors and high tin covered ceilings. The studios were designed as dance studios by the late, famed Tony Montanaro and his wife Karen Hurll Montanaro from whom we took over the space, in the spring of 1989.
Both studios are fully equipped with mats, blocks, bolsters, belts, blankets, and many other helpful props including two fullsize wooden backbenders, two pelvic swings which provide excellent spinal extension, two sets of wall-ropes, as well as many setu bandha and halasana benches.
